Maharashtra govt formation live updates: 288 MLAs in the Maharashtra assembly took oath this morning while NCP leader Ajit Pawar and BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis were among the first ones to take oath. Ajit Pawar was welcomed in the morning by Supriya Sule while other NCP leaders said he has apologised to Sharad Pawar and is back with NCP now. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be sworn-in as the chief minister of Maharashtra after the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance declared him their leader. Five days after Maharashtra got Devendra Fadnavis back as the chief minister, now it will have Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray as the new chief minister. Thackeray will be sworn in as the chief minister on Friday. NCP leader Ajit Pawar resigned as the Deputy CM from the Fadnavis government and forced him to also quit as the chief minister. Later the three parties' alliance Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi staked claim to form the government and met Governor BS Koshyari to offer him a letter of support of 166 MLAs, much above the required the majority mark.
